Art Opening and Coat Drive Opens February 11, 12:00-5:00
Maggie Ploener will share her art at the Putnam Valley Library for the month of February.
In conjunction with this opening The Library and Maggie Ploener are conducting a coat drive. Collection Spots Include the Library and Shawn Keeler has graciously offered the foyer of the Putnam Valley Highway Department.
These Coats will be collected for an ongoing coat exchange at the library and the excess bounty will be donated to local charities.
Maggie Ploener has exhibited locally in Katonah, Garrison, Somers and Peekskill. She recently received an award through Guaranteed Income For Artists. A grant through the Carnegie Foundation.
“This body of work was informed by the beautiful pink summer sunsets over Lake Oscawana, in Putnam Valley, NY. I use a technique I call Aqueous Medium. I mix homemade soy milk with various pigments, India Ink, indigo, and acrylic paint.“
The images arise by culling the unconscious. The paintings evoke different things for different people. The work is very psychological, it is like taking a Rorschach test. The only difference is that when looking at the ArtWork, no one will analyse your response.
